Look Questions 1. Of what material is this tea service made? How can you tell? Which object is the teapot? How can you tell? What material is the teapot's handle made of? 2. Which object in this tea set is shaped like an urn? What might it have been used for? How can you tell? Which object is shaped like an upside-down helmet with a visor? What might it have been used for? How can you tell? Which object would you use to pick up sugar cubes? To scoop tea leaves? To remove and strain the tea leaves out of the hot tea? 3. Look at the object next to the creamer. What is this object? What does it have that the other objects in the tea set don't? 4. Where do you see ENGRAVED lines in the silver? Are the lines straight or curved? Thick or thin? What kinds of designs do the engraved lines describe? Where else do you see curved lines in this tea set? 5. Where do you see straight lines in the tea set? Are the lines thick or thin? Horizontal, vertical, or diagonal? The straight lines on the teapot and tea caddy form FLUTES, a common pattern in many art forms. Do the flutes remind you of anything you have seen on buildings?
