Grace Hartigan

Grace Hartigan's early paintings bridge abstract expressionism and pop art. Hartigan worked as a draftsperson in California during the early 1940s and moved to New York in 1946. In New York she became one of the leading abstract expressionist artists, painting large-scale, brilliantly colored canvases of her urban environment.
