Pop Art

During the late 1950s and early 1960s, the pop art movement developed in New York City. Pop artists represented and often satirized the most recognizable ICONS of American popular culture (thus the label "pop art"). Some artists used not only commercial images but also commercial art techniques, such as SILKSCREEN printing and AIRBRUSH painting.
