Look Questions 1. What is this object? What would it be used for? What material do you think this ladle is made of? What makes you think so? 2. What kind of animal does this ladle resemble? How can you tell? Where is the head? Where is its beak? Where are the eyes? The neck? The body? The feet? Do you see feathers? What color is it? What kind of bird do you think it is? 3. What kind of lines do you see in this ladle? 4. How do you think this ladle would feel if you could touch it? Which parts would be the most smooth? Which parts would be the least smooth? 5. Artists sometimes make objects that look exactly like something from nature. This is called NATURALISTIC art. Other artists begin with forms in nature, but then simplify them so we might not even recognize the original forms. This is called ABSTRACT art. Do you think this bird ladle is naturalistic or abstract? Why? What aspects of a bird has the artist simplified?
