Enter this Unit.	Middle Level: Grades 6-8 Middle-Level Standard: Living Systems Consider how environment influences the function and design elements of ceramics produced by a culture. Middle-Level Standard: Physical Systems Gain knowledge about how "firing" changes the composition of clay. If possible, fire a clay object and then compare it to an air-dried clay object. (See online lesson "Ceramic Process.") Learn about glazes and how they affect the surface of clay. If possible, apply glaze to a clay object and then compare it to an unglazed clay object. (See online lesson "Ceramic Process.")
