Enter this Unit.	High School Level: Grades 9-12 High School Standard: Concepts in Chemistry Gain knowledge about how "firing" changes the composition of clay. If possible, fire a clay object and then compare it to an air-dried clay object. (See online lesson "Ceramic Process.") Learn about glazes and how they affect the surface of clay. If possible, apply glaze to a clay object and then compare it to an unglazed clay object. (See online lesson "Ceramic Process.") High School Standard: Environmental Systems Consider how the function and design elements of the unit's ceramics are inspired by and reflect the natural environment.
