Describe the visual choices that artists made in creating the unit's eight images by responding to questions that can be answered by looking at the images.

Use arts terminology to express ideas about the unit's eight images and to identify styles of art belonging to different cultures and times.

Interpret each of the unit's eight images by responding to questions that help explore the artist's creative intent and the reasons behind the artist's visual choices.

To complement study of the painting A "Bear" Chance, evaluate the persuasive techniques used in print advertisements. (See Amazing Animals Activities, Social Studies.)

To complement study of the Benin Leopard sculpture, listen to and distinguish the features of praise poems, an outgrowth of the West African oral tradition of praise songs. (See Amazing Animals Activities, Language Arts.)

To complement study of the Teacups with scenes from "The Fox and the Stork," listen to and interpret the lessons in fables about animals, such as Kipling's Just So Stories and Aesop's Fables. (See Amazing Animals Activities, Language Arts.)
