Adult ClassPeriod Restoration: Rights and Wrongs Learn how to preserve the integrity and value of your wooden furniture through "Old World" techniques and new technology in restoration and preservation. Instructors are Randy Bohn, who studied conservation and restoration of wooden artifacts at Dakota County Technical College and owns a restoration and conservation firm specializing in fine antiques; and Mitch Kohanek, instructor for the Wood and Finishing Technology Program at Dakota County Technical College and a member of the American Institute of Conservation.
Architecture and Design in the Family Center Young children can explore architecture and design through books and toys every day in the Family Center, a space designed specifically for children. Sit at tables on stools designed by Alvar Aalto, and play with cards designed by Charles and Ray Eames. Use blocks to construct miniature buildings.
Youth Class Exploring Art I & II Students learn about the renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright and those who worked with him. The projects in Exploring Art I and Exploring Art II are the same. The longer sessions of Exploring Art II allow students more time to view art in the galleries and to work on their own. Classes are held Saturdays in Classroom 111. Sections are limited to 14. Gabberts Furniture & Design Studio presents John Howe Lecture Series To celebrate its sponsorship of "John Howe in Minnesota," Gabberts Furniture & Design Studio is presenting a four-part lecture series featuring some of this regions leading speakers on Frank Lloyd Wright and the ongoing legacy of the Prairie School movement. Those attending the lecture series will be eligible to enter a drawing to stay in the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Seth Peterson Cottage in Wisconsins Mirror Lake State Park. All lectures will be held at 7 p.m. at Gabberts Furniture & Design Studio, 3501 Galleria in Edina, across from Southdale. Lectures are free and open to the public; however, reservations are required.
